RESEARCH PROPOSALS

Who would've thought things would go this fast and even before our first week in school ended, we would have a new set of projects? After two months of vacation, finally RESEARCH we meet again.

Currently, we were assigned to give three Science Investigatory Project proposals this week. Of course, I cannot do this project alone so I was teamed with some of my classmates. They were Annamea Conol and Kirsteen Villa. After some moments of "brainstorming", we came up with these proposals:

• Creating paper bags out of used carton boxes
• Since carton boxes have some similarities to regular paper, we decided to make it as an alternative substance or "ingredient" in making paper bags. Paper bags are widely used as containers for purchased materials in stores or food chains, next to plastic. On the bright side, it is environmental considering that it is biodegradable. However, it still uses trees the same way as paper does. So we came up with this topic to research a way on how to make paper bags from used carton boxes in order to make a new kind of paper bag which is recycled but has almost the same qualities than that of a regular paper bag, making it more environmental.
•  Garlic and chilli as organic insecticides
• Since we already had research in our third year subjects, we have already read a lot of references and fortunately, one of us came with this certain  article in the internet in which a certain person recommended to use garlic and chilli as insecticide. We are aiming to know the efficiency and effectiveness of this kind of insecticide at the same time, maybe study its phytochemical characteristics in order to know what certain substances are present in these spices that makes it possible for it to be an organic insecticide.
• Improvised remote control mop
• We already had this as our research proposal last year and we decided to have this as our third problem since we already had gathered facts and backgrounds plus the possible methodologies of this proposal. There are already different models of remote controlled mop in the online market already however, some people cannot afford its price. My previous group in Research I decided to make an improvised remote controlled mop that would be made out of used RC cars instead of making an actual remote control mop. Here's the prototype:

 We are still working on deciding which of these three we will pursue but we are doing our best. This week, we will present our short proposals about these three.
